All shoulder immobilizers and supports use either chest circumference or forearm length
for sizing
Measuring Chest Circumference:
Female: Measure circumference of the chest just below the bust-line.
Male: Measure circumference of the chest at its widest point.
Forearm Length: Measure from the lateral epicondyle to the fifth
metacarpo-phalangeal joint.
FITTING
When fitting "sling type" immobilizers, caution should be taken not to
make the strap adjustments too short forcing the shoulder into a shrugged position.
The shoulder should be maintained in a neutral position and relaxed into the sling portion
of the immobilizer. A properly fitted sling should be long enough to fully support the hand
and wrist but not cover the fingers.
